Here, our editor Victoria Galligan speaks to the Learnit team to find out the background behind the new-for-2019 show and what educators can expect to see…
How did the team come together?
The Learnit team consists of Anil Aggarwal, an American tech-entrepreneur and investor, and Katy Fryatt, a Cambridge University graduate and a millennial parent. They met whilst developing the world’s most important events for fintech and retail innovation: Money20/20 and Shoptalk.
Learnit aims to be “world-changing” – how does it hope to do this?
Despite the UK’s evolving employment and commercial landscape, it has become readily apparent that we are now facing a ‘skills deficit’ in the provision of Modern Foreign Languages within schools.
The British Council’s Language Trends Survey 2016/2017 has revealed that since 2012, schools have faced shortfalls in pupils studying a second language, with a 37% reduction at GCSE level.
The rise of the Multi Academy Trust offers new ways for suppliers and schools to work more closely together
The number of academies and multi academy trusts (MATs) increases on a monthly basis. At Bett Academies (16-18 March, NEC, Birmingham) the director of Assembly, a non-profit joint venture between Ark and NEON, will be talking to suppliers and MATs about the changing needs of these schools, and how collaboration will help the next wave of edtech to evolve.
