Here, our editor Victoria Galligan speaks to the Learnit team to find out the background behind the new-for-2019 show and what educators can expect to see…

How did the team come together?

The Learnit team consists of Anil Aggarwal, an American tech-entrepreneur and investor, and Katy Fryatt, a Cambridge University graduate and a millennial parent. They met whilst developing the world’s most important events for fintech and retail innovation: Money20/20 and Shoptalk.

Learnit aims to be “world-changing” – how does it hope to do this?

Produced in partnership with ITN Productions, Espresso News brings the world’s biggest news stories to thousands of primary school classrooms every day – delivering dynamic age-appropriate content to help children engage with current affairs. 

Bett, the world’s oldest and largest EdTech exhibition, today announces a collaboration with Learnit, the brand new, venture-backed conference for the global learning ecosystem. This January, a group of Bett’s 35,000+ visitors, 200+ speakers and 850+ exhibitors will also be able to participate in Learnit at the QEII Centre in Westminster as one of its 1,000+ attendees, 150+ speakers, or 50+ sponsors.

The Education Show, the go-to annual event for schools to buy resources and equipment, is moving date and location to be positioned in Excel, London for 24-25 January 2019. By moving to London, it will coincide with its sister show Bett and extend its reach to the education market. Together they will host the world’s largest gathering of the education community for both UK and international visitors, who will discover new products and suppliers as well as keep up to date with new developments and best practice in the sector.

Schools can find out more about an innovative app to accelerate early reading. 

Edtech startup Zaprendo is announcing the launch of its learn-to-read-app, Sounds English Phonetics, at this year’s technology-education show, Bett.

The app is designed to boost reading achievement and early-stage literacy by teaching pupils with a reading age of between six and nine years to utilise 92 commonly occurring grapho-phonemes (written sounds).
